Sports equipment is one of the most undervalued categories in the Australian second-hand market. Sellers consistently underprice because they don't know the market. Here's what your gear is actually worth and how to get it.
Road and Mountain Bikes
Quality bikes hold value exceptionally well in Australia. A $2,000 road bike in good condition sells for $900–$1,300 after 3 years. Key factors: brand (Trek, Specialized, Giant hold value best), groupset quality (Shimano 105 or better), and frame condition. Always include the frame size in your title.
Golf Clubs
Golf clubs depreciate quickly unless they're premium brands. Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade and Ping hold value best. A full set of 3-year-old Titleist irons in good condition sells for 40–55% of retail. Sell as a complete set when possible. Include the shaft flex and grip condition in your description.
Gym Equipment
Gym equipment is heavy and hard to ship — local pickup only is standard. Barbells and weight plates hold value well. Cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes) depreciates faster. Condition photos are critical — show the console, belt condition on treadmills, and any wear on weight benches.

Surfboards
Surfboards are highly condition-dependent. Dings, delamination and pressure dents significantly reduce value. A clean board in good condition sells for 50–65% of retail. Always photograph the deck, bottom, rails and fins. Include the dimensions (length, width, thickness, volume in litres).
